Bibliographic notes for Wayne_Barlowe

Wayne Barlowe signed his early covers (before ~1980) with a glyph that has a large B containing what looks like a W and an O. The "O" is actually a Celtic "d" to spell out Barlowe's initials, W.D.B. He changed to a conventional signature around 1980. This is an example of the glyph from the October 1978 cover for Vault of the Ages (1952) by Poul_Anderson. Incidentally, this cover was about the third that Barlowe was hired to execute. (source: e-mail from Wayne Barlowe, September 15, 2007)
